(English version)

I’m going to have my solo show, “Over a Journey” at Fantail Cafe in Fuchu this coming September.

I paint abstract landscapes with oil paint. My paintings may remind visitors of somewhere, or something, though they can’t find the painted scenery in this world. In my works, people look for objects they are familiar with. What they have seen so far tends to be the key to what they are looking at.

Oil goes along best with my motivation to paint because we can brush it over and over. I often take a long time to finish my work, so vestiges of brushes and layers of colors gradually change a motif into a scenery. I watch how a scenery is to be constructed on a canvas.

While making an oil painting work, I often enjoy sketching with watercolor or digital painting.

In this solo show, under the theme of “Over a Journey,” I exhibit my paintings created at  various points. The motives were mountains, clouds, buildings and trees in front of my eyes. Their figures turned into parts of colorful sceneries. It occurred to me at those moments that I had traveled far away.

I hope you’ll enjoy finding your sceneries in my paintings.
